Children & Film Panorama 2011
Children and youth are first movers, the audience and film creators of the future – and they orientate themselves locally as well as globally.
Since 2008 Children & Film Panorama has played a key role within ZIFF. It gives children and youth access to a diversity of films – in terms of content, genres and cultural origin. One ambition is to strengthen the professional commitment within the field of producing and distributing films for young audiences in East Africa. The long term vision is to generate a political debate and action towards better premises for film and audience development – from a child perspective.
ZIFF and the Danish Film Institute truly believe in the potential of Children & Film Panorama. And we truly believe in the important role that film can play in childhood ! Film can open eyes up to the world around and film education can be an effective tool in development processes for youth. Films artistically reflect realities of life and each screening at the Children & Film Panorama will be facilitated and followed up by discussions about the film, its content and form.
In 2011 Children & Film Panorama will take place in the Palace Museum. We present an international program of short films and feature films.
6 young people from the ZIFF - Kori Arts – SOS - Youth Empowerment Youth program take part in the festival this year by discussing with the audience and coordinating activities, together with the teachers and Children Panorama Coordinator Mr. Robert Manondolo.
“Films are a powerful and evocative tool for fostering, understanding and tolerance in the world”. Nelson Mandela (FilmAid International / UNCHR/New York)
Children & Film Panorama is initiated in 2008 by Zanzibar International Film Festival and the Danish Film Institute. ZIFF and DFI are honoured to continue and develop this key section of ZIFF.
