“Matriarch” fills the void that majority of Semi‐arid and Arid, sub‐Saharan African women everywhere experience with the unending demands of rural life, inserting the audience into the scenario as a virtual judge at the end of it all.
The story through the main character SUBIRA, enables the viewer to get inside the lives
of single mothers who live with the scourge of poverty and lack of basic needs such as
food and clean water in the dry lands across the world and learn what makes them tick.
Through the lens we see Subira juggling the demands of life without a decent job with
the search for financial and family support. Watch her assertive demeanor and humility
as she seeks to fend for her and her daughter’s daily needs.
